Stop Right There! Abortion in the 21st Century

It has recently leaked that the Supreme Court is drafting an opinion to overturn Roe V. Wade. This unique leak of information on the cusp of the most controversial decision by the high court would end an almost unbroken tradition of secrecy at the court [1]. This action is quite welcome news to the conservative bunch who have fought for and prayed for the unborn since the landmark decision in 1973. The decision in 1973, also being leaked to the press, makes for quite a fitting turn of events [2].

How did we get here in America?

It is a sad reality when looking over the moral landscape of the nation. Moreover, it is scary to look back through the annals of history to note that every great nation that ever sat atop the podium of power ultimately crumbled with moral rot. This article serves to suggest that Darwinism is the culprit of the problem. “How can a nation, which has the richness of religious behavior among its people, be persuaded to mass murder millions of innocent children? The first step was by means of public education and its total acceptance of Darwinian evolution and the teaching of it as scientific fact while excluding religious values from the curricula”[3].

The damnable Darwinian theory has corrupted the minds of millions and stolen the lives of millions more. Evolution ripped God out of the minds of people which led them to have no direction in life, no authority to yield to, no value system to adhere to. Without God, there is no value to life, no meaning to being. Darwinism and the “theory of evolution” force fed to the populace has gendered immeasurable harms and innumerable evils. The moral decline in America, evidenced by rampant sexual promiscuity, drove the godless desire to legalize abortion. God instituted a law of sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7) and man has since done his best to circumvent that law.

Margaret Sanger was a sexual reformer, an activist, who was on a war path to destroy lives with a cruel agenda. “She was an elitist, eugenicist, and a racist. She was greatly influenced by the free love advocate Emma Goldman. Goldman was steeped in the philosophy of Nietzsche and the founding works of Sigmund Freud.”[4] With the likes of Friedrich Nietzsche driving the philosophy of these activist, it is no wonder moral decay and the attack on truth follow their doings. After all, relative to truth, Nietzsche said, “You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist”. Relative to the desire of every religious person, Nietzsche said, “In heaven, all of the interesting people will be missing.”

This author is reminded of a story told by his father, a minster, who was visiting one of his elders in the hospital. It was early in the wee hours, and the elder’s wife, Doris, asked her minister if he would care to go get her breakfast. It was evident that Ron, her husband was fast asleep. As any good minister would do, he went right down the street to retrieve the desired breakfast to relieve the hunger and torture of multiple days stay in the facilities. As she ate her breakfast, the smell of crisp bacon filled the room. A nurse came into the room to do her required charting and commented on the delightful smell of the  bacon. That comment prompted the preacher to exclaim, “Bacon makes everything better!” From the silence of his hospital bed, Ron spoke up to their surprise and said, “It didn’t make the pig better!” Albeit a timely comment and quite funny, there is a misconception that abortion “makes it better”. Abortion rids people of an unwanted problem, but it doesn’t make the baby better!

On January 22, 1973 the nine Supreme Court justices that sat to rule in the highest court in the land ruled in a (7-2) decision to allow abortion as a legal option to destroy unwanted babies. This subsequently became the law of the land. From 1973 to present day, America murders 1.5 million babies every year. Make no mistake about it, “Abortion- all the disclaimers of its proponents notwithstanding- is the cold-blooded murder of a God given life. And no rhetoric on the part of pro-abortion forces ever can change that fact.”[5] “We abhor from a distance the unspeakable crimes of Adolph Hitler as he murdered six million Jewish men, women, and children. Yet in our own land we snuff out the lives of countless millions far more defenseless than they.[6]” There is no excuse, no rational explanation that would lend credence to the necessity and value of such a detestable act as the murder of innocent lives. Many excuses are offered. (1) Parents aren’t ready to care for the child. Or (2) the child has found to be deformed or disabled in mind or body somehow. None of which meet the criteria for a man to put himself in the seat of God! Those criteria don’t exist (Deuteronomy 32:39)!

Jesus Christ took a position relative to the ones that would be victim to this devilish movement- to kill anything that does not reach a standard of worth set by some other bag of bones. Jesus said in Luke 14:13-14, “But when you make a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed; because they have nothing to repay you; but the payment will come from God at the resurrection of the just.” Jesus saw the worth in the very people this rabid society has been trying to murder for years. Even adults and especially the elderly aren’t safe from this murderous doctrine! Davis stated it perfectly in that “Human life is sacred because God made man in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:26, 28; 9:5-6). This canopy of sacredness extends throughout a man’s life, and is not simply limited to those times and circumstances when man happens to be strong, independent, healthy, and fully conscious of his relationships to others. God is actively at work in the womb, for example (Psalms 139:13-16; Job 19:8-13), long before the human being can exercise the mental functions that secular humanists tend to see as the key criteria of value for human personality. The same God that is lovingly present in the womb can be (and is) present in the dying and comatose patient, for whom conscious human relationships are broken. The body of the dying can still be the temple of the Holy Spirit (Cf. 1 Corinthians 6:19), and hence sacred to God.”[7] Thus, it is concluded, “Choice may be the cry of the abortionists and euthenists, but death is the result of their choice both physically and spiritually.”[8]

What can the Christian do about it?

There is no doubt that the topic of Roe V. Wade is as politically charged as any topic that could be discussed. The left and right have fought, rallied, and even murdered each other to show support or disdain for the actions of the other side. A brother said, “Because abortion has become a political issue does not mean that it is no longer a moral issue. There is a strong voice in America that cries for separation of Church and State. However, the original purpose in separation of Church and State had to do with the State’s inability to exercise power over religious affairs. In our two hundred plus years of history we have seen the flip-side approach to this concept. Now, cries against anything the church may do to influence the state is strongly denounced.” [9]

This writer desires to encourage the reader to join the fight for the very soul of the nation in prayer. There is going to be immense pressure, death threats, placed on the justices that side with morality and truth. The devil is going to unleash the very pits of hell against this attempt to turn this country back from the horrible practice of slaughtering its most precious and vulnerable. America is close to victory- but the sound to retreat must never be trumpeted. The victory in Christ is already won, but Christians have an immense task to evangelize this great nation. America cannot undo the past, but it can with a resounding and resolute voice write an amazing future. Every citizen has an obligation to help the nation they love take a good step- a right step- and end the atrocity of abortion. As Jackson stated in timeless fashion, “Let every person, therefore, who is interested in his own welfare, and that of society as a whole, diligently set himself for a propagation and defense of biblical morality in a time of technical crisis.”[10]

May God richly bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.

Now go and do the right thing!
