Here at Eastside church of Christ, you will come to realize that the origin of the church dates back to the churches we read about in the New Testament.  We are not a denomination, and the Bible is our only rule for our structure of worship.  Each congregation of the churches of Christ operates under a local leadership of elders with deacons serving in various works as it was designed in the New Testament.  After Jesus’ resurrection, He commanded the apostles to, ”Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16: 15 & 16)

As we study how the New Testament Christians worshiped, we find that they worshiped in the same manner as prescribed in the New Testament.  They did not try to add to or take away from the scriptures, and “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)  As you study the examples of the church in the New Testament, you will understand why we worship, teach, preach, pray, sing, serve communion, and live the way we do.  This is why you will not find instrumental music in our building and why we partake of the Lord’s supper each and every first day of the week.  When you study the scriptures, you will find that we preach and practice the same message that is taught in the New Testament.  We are a Bible centered congregation of the Lord’s church, and our mission is to save souls.
