Christian, remember His church.

The Lords Church is an institution unrivaled in history. From the Garden of Eden to the Palaces of Egypt, Babylon, or Rome, nothing stands to compare to the awesomeness of the body of Christ. It is unmatched in Price, Preciousness, and Power.

The Church is nothing without Jesus. He is that eternal person that came to fulfill the eternal plan thereby establishing the eternal pattern (Jn.1:1,12,29; Eph.3:11; 2 Thess.2:15; 2 Tim.1:13; Phil.3:17-19; Eph.5:11). If it is the case that Christ is the Head of the Church and the Savior of the body (Eph.5:23), how awesome is that body- that church? I submit to you it is absolutely unrivaled and is worth us keeping in memory. We should keep in memory and be so very thankful to be a part of such a wonderful, eternal, perfect plan of God to redeem all who will believe on Him who He sent.

We should remember the Apostles. These men were men just as we are (Acts 14:15). They failed and overcame those failures through commitment to Christ and His Church. These men are worth us studying and imitating (1 Cor.11:1). The Apostles received the mystery, recorded the mystery, and revealed the mystery (Mk.4:11; Rom.16:11; 1 Cor.2:7; Eph.1:9; 3:3-4; 6:19; Col.1:26-27).

We should remember the restorers. The world has always retained men who are honestly and sincerely seeking to please and obey God (1 Kings 19:18; Acts 18:10). Such was the case at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century and which continues even till this very day. Barton W. Stone, Thomas Campbell and his son, Alexander did much to light a fire within the borders of this nation and call men back to the book. They preached men should only do those things that are found within the pages of Holy Writ, namely the New Testament which is the binding authority on men since the abrogation of the Old Covenant (Col.2:12-14; entire book of Hebrews). What awesome men we appreciate and remember for the good work they devoted themselves to in restoring New Testament Christianity and Bible authority.

We should remember our ancestors.  Great Grandfathers and Grandfathers who gave of their own wealth and bodies to purchase lands and materials to build buildings that we meet and worship in this very day. All across this tattered land stands the lampstands of Christ’s body, where the saved are added (Acts 2:47) and local congregations meet to remember and worship the God of heaven and the creator of all things. The King of Kings is weekly praised and magnified and it is from there that people garner strength and encouragement each week to go out and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mk.16:16). It is from the local congregations that missions are planned and executed as men weekly “come and see” to then “go and tell”. We should remember the love and commitment of our heritage, their sacrifice and surrender, and be equally committed to the same things they were.

Remember the awesome price paid, starting in eternity, procured at Calvary, and winding its way down through history. Remember the preciousness of it (Acts 20:28; Rev.1:5) and the power in it. “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in US, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end, Amen” (Eph.3:20-21).
